I hope everyone is ready for the holiday’s. When the holiday’s come around every year, everyone gets excited about spending time with friends and family at these holiday gatherings. We worry about what to wear, what to guy, or what to cook, but we tend to forget about staying active and challenging our bodys. As Winston Churchill puts it,“It is better to do something than to do nothing while waiting to do everything.”As I think about going home to my family in Panama City I realize that I won’t have the ability to go to the gym. Not just because I will be busy with my friends and family but also because I don’t know if the gym will be open. While it is holiday season my family is still recovering from damages from the hurricane. Normally I would go to the gym in the morning before I go shopping or start cooking for Thanksgiving. This year I am worried about how to continue my fitness routine so I decided to post about something people face every year, the holiday weight.
My plan is to do some volunteer work for my neighborhood removing trees and helping with house repairs. When I helped removed trees the first week hurricane Micheal hit my strength was dramatically improved. I also have to find time to practice teaching a workout routine I created. To improve my teaching skills I am going to take all the teenagers in my family and have them do my workout. Teaching teenagers that have little knowledge about fitness will help me hone in on my abilities to correct form and explain positions.
Since I will not be able to do all the workout classes I am use to I am planning on doing short intervals of high intensity training. I will start with warming up my body and doing 20 mins of cardio. I am planning on starting with a few sets of sprints to a few reps of squats, planks, lunges, and push-ups. This will help with building upper and lower body strength. I will then end my cardio with a jog around the neighborhood and at the end I will walk to bring my heart rate down. Once I get back to the house I will work on core through a few yoga poses and then a cool down. My plan is to come back after Thanksgiving ready to conquer the world!
